It was just a tour of a single day so I had to plan very carefully. Pashupatinath was more than I expected. I visited the main shrine, where there was a Shiva Linga, and the priest put some tika on my forehead. I felt a different kind of peace and bliss, even in such a crowd. I went to a small local shop, which seemed to have been there for a long time. The old lady, who was the owner of the shop, was very friendly and gave me a warm welcome in her shop. I ordered Sel Roti Chana and milk tea, which was a very famous breakfast in Nepal. The price was not much, which I was surprised about. The distance was quite long from Pashupatinath. Streets had started to gain traffic as the morning grew older. I started climbing the stairs and noticed both Pashupatinath and Swoyamnhunath had a great population of monkeys. Lots of Buddhist devotees were coming down, and some were going up alongside me. When I reached the top, there was quite a scene. A big stupa up on the hill and the whole Kathmandu in front of it.&nbsp; Some people were busy watching Kathmandu from the top, while others were busy taking pictures, just like me. After spending an hour, I decided to head towards my next destination."}},{"id":"PWVYlplyKm","type":"paragraph","data":{"text":"My next destination in a day tour of Kathmandu was another giant stupa called Boudhanath. It took me almost an hour to reach there from Swoyambhunath. When I got there, I was quite amazed. It was something different than I expected. The gigantic stupa with the carved eyes of Lord Buddha was very captivating. I took three revolutions of the stupa, as suggested by a monk there. I sat on the rooftop of a restaurant called Noryang. My order of Keema noodles came a bit late, but it was worth it. After satisfying myself, I took some pictures and interacted with the locals. I arrived there at almost 1 pm. It was quite crowded, and I saw a lot of people, both locals and foreigners from different countries. It was quite a big area to explore, which I did in almost 2 hours. During that time, I visited Hanuman Dhoka, the statue of the Hindu deity Kaal Bhairab, and the Basantapur area. I found out that it was the day of Indra Jaatra, the festival of the living goddess Kumari."}},{"id":"AD87CBMBpo","type":"paragraph","data":{"text":"I was amazed to see the spectacle of people making chariots and the Newar community busy practicing various musical instruments.&nbsp; I felt very lucky to have arrived at such an auspicious time of year. I decided to witness the Jaatra event and postpone my other destination for some other time. The scene of loud traditional music in a harmonious rhythm and the chariot moving with the efforts of many people still gives me goosebumps. I ordered a dish famous among Nepalese people, buff momo. When it arrived, I found out why it was popular. It was among some of the best dishes, if not the best, that I have had the opportunity to taste. The visual of three chariots moving with a bowl full of warm momos can be included as one of the best moments of my life. The bustling streets of Thamel were as good as I had heard. With the cool breeze moving the prayer flags in great motion, I encountered many shops, boutiques, and market stalls selling everything from traditional handicrafts to trendy apparel. Vibrant streets made Thamel very enchanting. As the evening grew old and the clock hit 9 p.m., the hunger pangs began to stir. Thamel offers a culinary adventure like no other. From traditional Nepali fare to international cuisine from around the globe, the neighborhood is a melting pot of flavors and aromas. The traveling from early morning and the eventful day had started to take effect on the body.
